At its regular monthly meeting on April 16, 2024, the King William County School Board issued the following statement:
Like many of you, School Board members were surprised to read the recent email from one of our employees to the staff, students, and families of the King William High School community. As most of you are aware, it would not be appropriate for the School Board or Superintendent to comment on circumstances or facts that may be part of any personnel matter. However, we want our community to know that the School Board does not agree with many aspects of that email message. Furthermore, the School Board also wants our community to know that the teachers and staff of King William High School are committed educators who try to go above and beyond each day to help students and help one another. For this we are truly grateful.
It is unfortunate that this matter is in the public domain where all relevant and accurate information is often neither known nor presented. We hope you can respect the Board's commitment to confidentiality and trust the Board's desire to help the staff of KWHS (and all schools) feel supported and encouraged as we try to raise the bar of expectations for student performance, behavior, and accountability.
The School Board has no further comment at this time.
